The transformation of Mysore from a small town to a modern township began during the period of Krishnaraja Wodeyar III. It was Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV who developed Mysore into a handsome city with excellent planning. He brought fame to Mysore as a city of wide roads, imposing building and gardens filled with beauty.
